StudioLive Offline Editor uses the files installed on your computer by PreSonus Virtual Studio Live ©.
If VSL is not installed, StudioLive Offline Editor will not run.

After downloading our software to your computer:

  • Install StudioLive Offline Editor on the same computer or laptop that you have PreSonus Virtual StudioLive installed on.
  • When you run StudioLive Offline Editor, it will load all of your existing presets and scenes that you have saved on your computer.
  • When you create new or edit an existing preset or scene within StudioLive Offline Editor, it will be instantly available within Virtual StudioLive.

Using StudioLive Offline Editor is fairly intuitive. However, there are several features that will not be obvious to the new user.

First, it is important to note that even though you cannot change any eq settings from within the editor, it will not change the eq settings of an existing preset. In other words, if you have an existing Fat Channel Preset with the bass scooped out, you can drag it into the editor, change the gate and compressor settings and then save it. The eq settings will remain the same. The same is true for the scene. If you drop an existing scene into the editor and change some parameters, the parts of the scene that you cannot change within the editor (like the Aux sends for example) will be unaffected when you save the scene.

Like VSL, click the "+" button to save a file and the "-" to delete one (as seen in the top right of the editor screenshot below). The only time a file is overwritten is when you save with the same name as an existing file. For a new scene just click in a blank space or click in a used space and change the name.

There are a several features that will make tasks easier while working with StudioLive Offline Editor. For example, if you double-click the balance control on a channel strip, it will automatically center it. Also, if you drag a preset onto a channel and then forget what you dropped, hover your mouse over the scribble strip for a couple of seconds until the original name appears in the tool tip. You can clear a channel by clicking the Select Button, right-clicking and choosing Clear Channel from the context menu. You can also use the edit menu to clear the selected channel or the entire scene.

There are two ways to change the settings within the Compressor/Limiter, Gate and the High Pass Filter. One, place your mouse over the LED Segment and then click and drag up or down or two, place your mouse over the LED Segment and use your mouse wheel to adjust the setting.

Like VSL, you can drag and drop individual presets from the list box onto individual channels in the mixer section. You can drag an entire scene and drop it anywhere on the mixer section.

To move from one scribble strip to the next, simply use the TAB key to move to the next channel or SHIFT+TAB to move to the previous channel.

Use the Edit Menu or Right-Click on a channel to copy and paste or to clear a channel or an entire scene.

Switch between SL-24.4.2 and SL-16.4.2 models by selecting the appropriate model from the View Menu. (Note: you must have VSL installed for the corresponding model for it to work properly)

There is a small file created (SLEditorSettings.xml) when you run the program that will remain on your desktop. This file is used by StudioLive Offline Editor to keep track of program settings. You can look at it (or any XML file for that mater) with a browser or a text editor.
